Racing sails are a challenge. Whether for inshore racers, fast cruising yachts, or one-off designs, speed and performance are always the priority. High-tech materials such as polyester, Dyneema, Kevlar, or carbon are used depending on the requirements—either in panel sails or combined in load-path sails. The different materials are carefully matched to their purpose and laminated into a seamless membrane along load chains, known as load paths. Load-path membranes have become indispensable in competitive sailing.
